Summary: One summer, 6-year old Grace, gets snatched of her tyre swing by a fierce wolf pack. The group of wolves, snarling and snapping over Grace’s fragile body, ready to pounce, are stopped in haste. A striking yellow-eyed wolf stops the attack, seeing Grace in a way he had never seen anyone before. 10 years later, out of the blue, one of Grace's class mates is killed. Rumours say, that the well-known wolf pack, had killed him. In the midst of all this commotion, Grace encounters a yellow-eyed boy. His appearance triggers an earlier memory, and Grace is struck by how familiar he is, as if she’d seen him before. This romantic account, is one of which holds the struggling relationship between man and animal.
As this book's plot begins to thicken, a life-changing character development occurs. Grace, who is obviously the protagonist, does not rely on her family's love. She has grown up to be an independent adolescent, and she has never been filled with the love and affection one is supposed to feel for a special person. When she meets Sam, her world is turned upside down. All those years, that she has been watching her unique yellow-eyed wolf, a sentiment of longing builds up inside her. The mood consists of passion and adventure, which always keeps you on wanting more.
Opinion: Reading this book has opened my eyes toward a different genre of novels. This book is one of my absolute favourites, as a result I 'grade' this book a 9 out of 10. I thought this novel entertaining and amusing because of the way the author had cleverly intertwined romance and fantasy to make an especially intriguing account. I recommend this novel to any roman-lovers out there, and those who particularly love a page-turner.
